“It was the best experience of my life,” said 8-year-old Mohammad*, in front of all the spectators, at the end of the Basketball event!
150 children from sports clubs and schools of the city, together with children from the Refugee Camp of Kavala, aged 8-12 years, participated in the special sport event of Basketball games, which took place on the weekend of June 4-5, at the Municipal Stadium “Alexandra Dimoglou”, in the framework of the “Together in Sport” project and in cooperation with the Municipality of Kavala.
Through the games, the spirit of sports once again united all the children, bringing smiles and beautiful feelings of competition. At the end of the event, each child was awarded a commemorative medal by the hands of the international veteran basketball player Sofoklis Schortsanitis!
And if the children were left admiring Big Sofo and rushed to take pictures with the famous basketball player, we keep the moving moment at noon on Saturday, when a friendly match took place between the children of the Refugee Camp team and a team of children of a sports club. At the end of the game, the asylum-seeking children happily awarded the medals to the children of the sports club and vice versa!
The conclusion of the event left everyone filled with smiles and warm feelings!
