METAdrasi, since the beginning of 2020, runs the Safe Areas for Unaccompanied Minors at the Reception and Identification Centres (RICs) in Samos and Kos. Our aim is to address the minors’ immediate needs by covering protection gaps and providing various services, in order to improve their quality of life.
The Safe Areas:
– Promote a feeling of safety and inclusion
– Support the children’s immediate needs (including any medical needs)
– Promote their integration
The Safe Area team consists of specialised staff with long-term experience in the protection of unaccompanied children. They provide psychosocial support, legal support, and case management and protection services in line with the children’s best interests. In addition to the provision of holistic Child Protection Services, METAdrasi also delivers Non-Food Items (such as clothes, shoes, person hygiene items etc.) for the unaccompanied minors, organises educational and recreational activities, and gives them additional food.
