METAdrasi’s 18+ programme was launched in 2018 as a pilot project with one apartment in Athens, with the aim of filling a fundamental gap, as there were no housing options available for young unaccompanied refugees reaching adulthood.
The 18+ programme is an innovative initiative by METAdrasi, which is addressed to young adults. The programme aspires to create a safe, intimate and warm environment for young adults, emphasizing their integration into the labour market, the development of their social network, the taking of initiatives and the strengthening of their sense of autonomy.
The activity provides beneficiaries with safe accommodation and a number of services covering all their basic needs, such as legal assistance, interpretation, psychosocial support, etc. The beneficiaries are former unaccompanied minors who were accommodated in Supported Independent Living Apartments or Accommodation Facilities.
Through the programme and with the support team’s contribution, the young individuals explore various employment opportunities and, as a result, most of them are absorbed in jobs of their preference.
METAdrasi operates four (4) apartments in Athens (3 for boys and 1 for girls) and two (2) in Kalamata, all of which are funded from the Organization’s own resources.
METAdrasi’s Supported Independent Living for 18+ programme is implemented with the support of UNHCR.
