Children and teen refugees from METAdrasi’s educational programs along with an unaccompanied minor from the Accommodation Centre for Unaccompanied Minors both located in Chios presented the concert “Musical Escapades,” a nostalgic journey to the musical corners of the world, that took place on Monday during the 7th Chios Music Festival.
With only two weeks of rehearsals and with the valuable guidance of the Festival teachers, the young musicians performed songs from faraway lands that enchanted the audience, at the inspiring landscape of the Ottoman Baths of the Castle. Among the dozens of people from the island that attended, the Minister of Migration and Asylum, Mr. Dimitris Kairidis, honored this special concert with his presence, after having visited METAdrasi’s Accommodation Facility in Chios.
Earlier the same day, the Minister took some time out of his busy schedule to greet the students of METAdrasi’s Non-Formal Education Centre in VIAL. Every day young students with the support of UNICEF attend classes, while adults learn modern Greek language in classes supported by UNHCR.
