We shared good practices concerning the activities for the protection and integration of unaccompanied children, while afterwards, we had the opportunity to attend a very interesting sporting event of “Together in Sport- Phase II”, where refugee children together with children of the local community gave another example of coexistence through the joint training of judo and acrobatics, under the guidance of distinguished Greek athletes.

Students from the 4th High School of Athens had the opportunity to get in touch with judo, blind judo and acrobatics. At the same time, they talked about the benefits of sports and the values they promote, such as self-control, respect and cooperation.

Children learn about sports in two events at the Olympic Stadium
Students from the 152nd, 44th and 49th Primary Schools of Athens gathered at the Olympic Stadium to learn about the values of fair play and cooperation through sports such as beach volleyball, weightlifting, karate, replace and fencing, reminding children that sport can combine the joy of participation with the pleasure of play.
Similar feelings of joy were experienced by the students from the 11th Primary School of Agioi Anargyroi and the 49th Primary School of Athens who enjoyed themselves through sports such as athletics, beach volley, boxing, weightlifting and replacement.
These two events confirmed once again that sport is a way to learn important values and strengthen collectivity.

“Flavours that unite worlds”
In the hands-on cooking workshop organized in the framework of “Together in Sport – Phase II”, the students of the High School of Mytilene had the opportunity to cook under the guidance of the experienced chef Maria Panagou “Flavors that unite worlds” and learn useful information about the names and origins of the foods as well as small cooking tips!
Flavours, colours and aromas from every corner of the world came together in a colourful salad, which we called the salad of inclusion. The students made Mediterranean fried cheese pies, which may differ in name from place to place, but they are the same! In Mytilene they are called gouzlemedes, in Egypt gebna, in Italy fiadone, in the Arab countries sambousek, in Lebanon fatayer…
