{"id":26008419,"date":"2016-11-23T09:20:21","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T07:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/an-important-distinction-for-metadrasi\/"},"modified":"2016-11-23T09:20:21","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T07:20:21","slug":"an-important-distinction-for-metadrasi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/an-important-distinction-for-metadrasi\/","title":{"rendered":"It feels great when the efforts of our team are being recognized: Another important distinction for METAdrasi!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>METAdrasi<\/strong>\u2019s cooperation with the American law firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reedsmith.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Reed Smith<\/strong><\/a> for offering free legal assistance to beneficiaries of international protection in Greece was awarded the first prize in the category of &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reedsmith.com\/Reed-Smith-Receives-PILnets-2016-European-Pro-Bono-Award-for-Exemplary-Partnership-in-Public-Interest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Award for Exemplary Partnership in the Public Interest<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, in the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.probonoforum.org\/europe\/2016-european-pro-bono-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">PILnet&#8217;s European Pro Bono awards<\/a>&#8221; ceremony which was held in Amsterdam on Thursday 17\/11\/2016.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, PILnet, Global Network for Public Interest Law, recognizes the best pro bono legal project undertaken as collaboration between an NGO and a law firm in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>METAdrasi&#8217;s President, Lora Pappa, stated:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Reed Smith&#8217;s support was offered at a hard time when, due to\u00a0the agreement with Turkey, thousands of refugees and migrants were trapped at the borders and we were looking for ways to augment our teams.<\/p>\n<p>Reed Smith&#8217;s help was extremely important: <strong>for 4 months, with 30 volunteer lawyers from different parts of the world and 30 interpreters<\/strong>\u00a0assisting them, they were able to support our teams, particularly in Lesvos and Chios.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration\u00a0of\u00a0Reed Smith with\u00a0METAdrasi constituted an optimal cooperation\u00a0practice between a Greek organization and volunteers.
