The commendation was conducted by the French Minister of European Affairs, Nathalie Loiseau.<\/p>\n<p>This significant honor forms the French state\u2019s highest distinction and is attributed to citizens that have stood out for their social contribution and their exceptional work.<\/p>\n<p>This special evening, hosted by the French Ambassador Christople Chantepy, was enriched with the presence of METAdrasi\u2019s team members from all over Greece and many friends and supporters of the Organization.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/team-photo-s-1.jpg\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" title=\"Metadrasi -\">Mrs Pappa, stating that \u201c<strong>Humanism is no one&#8217;s property<\/strong>\u201d dedicated this distinction to all METAdrasi\u2019s team members that \u201c<strong>do their best, daily, in the field, under adverse circumstances<\/strong>\u201d, as well as to the tens of thousands of supporters, that come from different sectors, but all contribute \u201c\u2026<strong>in their own way to a common goal: to help and protect other people that are found on European ground, in Greece, in order to escape violence, persecutions, conflicts, intolerance and poverty<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The French Minister, having earlier that day visited METAdrasi\u2019s accommodation facility for unaccompanied children in Athens, praised the Organization\u2019s important work, which, by offering interpretation services and activities for the protection of unaccompanied minors, \u201cresponded in a remarkable way to society\u2019s needs, during a hard period for Greece\u201d.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/legiondhonneur_c.gif\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" title=\"Metadrasi -\">Mrs Pappa thanked the French Minister and the French Ambassador, highlighting the French state\u2019s significant support, thanks to which METAdrasi created the first and only accommodation facility for unaccompanied minors in Chios: \u201ctens of children were able to find a secure environment, escaping from hot spots\u2019 living conditions and from all kinds of danger\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This facility is still operating today thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Stavros Niarchos Foundation<\/a> that followed on <a href=\"https:\/\/gr.ambafrance.org\/-Francais-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">France\u2019s<\/a> support.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/leggion_dhonneur_d.gif\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" title=\"Metadrasi -\">Mrs Pappa, referred to the children that have been provided hospitality by METAdrasi so far: \u201cSome of these children are today in Germany, in Sweden, in Austria and in other member states of the E.E. In a few years, they will become European citizens.
