\"Metadrasi<\/div><\/div>METAdrasi, within the framework of the activity “Certification of Torture Victims<\/a>“, organized an educational seminar entitled \u201cMedico-legal documentation of torture and ill-treatment cases in the Greek asylum context\u201d.<\/p>\n

The seminar took place at METAdrasi\u2019s offices in Tavros, with the participation of representatives from entities involved in the field of the refugee issue, such as the HCDCP (Hellenic Center for Disease Control & Prevention) and the Reception & Identification Service.<\/p>\n

A multi-disciplinary team of experts with international repute presented the international practices and the latest scientific developments in the field of torture victims management, with emphasis on the Istanbul Protocol. During the seminar, METAdrasi\u2019s team, that already participates with two of its members in the Istanbul Protocol Supplement Project, made an in-depth presentation of the process they follow since 2011, for the certification of torture victims in Greece. The international experts praised this process for its high scientific level which complies with the international standards.<\/p>\n

Though the discussions, the need for greater outreach of METAdrasi\u2019s activity was highlighted, as well as the necessity for the entities that certify vulnerability to be educated by METAdrasi regarding torture victims.<\/p>\n

The seminar was implemented with the support of UNHCR.<\/p>\n
