\"MetadrasiMETAdras<\/span>i<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>expresses\u00a0deepest grief<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>over last Saturday\u2019s incident, which resulted in the death of a boy in\u00a0<\/span>Moria\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0hotspot.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, about 650 unaccompanied minors live under unacceptable conditions in\u00a0<\/span>Moria<\/span>\u00a0hotspot and hundreds more in other hotspots on the islands and at the Reception and Identification Center in\u00a0<\/span>Orestiada<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>METAdrasi<\/span>\u00a0has repeatedly underlined the imperative need for the modification of the Operational Guidelines of the Shelters for unaccompanied children, having already submitted, since 2018 – together with other organizations – a\u00a0specific proposal. It is\u00a0<\/span>of the utmost\u00a0<\/span>necessity<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>that appropriate accommodation facilities are created in the mainland,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>using\u00a0<\/span>the European funds allocated to the Greek state for this purpose.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

METAdrasi\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0team of authorized representatives\/guardians for unaccompanied minors continues\u00a0<\/span>to support them i<\/span>n the field<\/span>, by\u00a0<\/span>struggling daily, under adverse<\/span>\u00a0conditions,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>ending in h<\/span>andl<\/span>ing a\u00a0<\/span>triple number of children\u00a0<\/span>than<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>provisioned<\/span>\u00a0one<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, an explosive and danger<\/span>ous<\/span>\u00a0situation has been developed for the unaccompanied children\u00a0<\/span>o<\/span>n the islands, caused by their prolonged stay in inappropriate conditions, the increase in the number of arrivals<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0noticed\u00a0<\/span>during\u00a0<\/span>the last period<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and mainly by the delay in family reunification procedures,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of a\u00a0significant\u00a0number of children<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0in other\u00a0<\/span>countries of the\u00a0<\/span>European\u00a0<\/span>Union.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
