{"id":26077695,"date":"2021-06-29T13:19:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-29T10:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/international-day-in-support-of-victims-of-torture\/"},"modified":"2025-01-07T07:06:45","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T05:06:45","slug":"international-day-in-support-of-victims-of-torture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/international-day-in-support-of-victims-of-torture\/","title":{"rendered":"International Day in Support of Victims of Torture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/metadrasi_hope_and_memory_1.jpg\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" class=\"wp-image-20015\" title=\"Metadrasi -\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture and in the framework of the programme \u201cHope and Memory: Identification and Certification of Victims of Torture\u201d, METAdrasi held on Saturday 26\/6 in Syntagma Square, the first of a series of actions aimed at raising awareness and informing the public about the issue of torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The public responded positively and many of our fellow citizens showed their interest in getting informed about this serious issue that they seemed to ignore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We warmly thank our volunteers who, despite the unbearable heat, remained tireless throughout the event, as well as the Municipality of Athens for the relevant permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2011, METAdrasi is the only body in Greece that certifies victims of torture, while the procedure followed is based on the &#8220;Istanbul Protocol&#8221;.
