At the same time, human rights violations have been recorded and are being investigated in 160 places in the world.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>On the occasion of the<a href=\"https:\/\/refugeeweek.gr\/#pll_switcher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> Refugee Week Greece<\/a> Festival and the International Day in Support for Victims of Torture, which is commemorated today, June 26, METAdrasi participated in a joint initiative of Civil Society actors and representatives of the academic community with the screening of the documentary &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0zs7bx0IqZo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Voices in the Shadows<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The event &#8220;Re-claiming My Body, Re-building My Home: Moving on from Violence and Torture,&#8221; aimed to raise awareness about the harsh realities of forced displacement, \u00a0when people endure torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment before or during their migratory journey.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Through the screening of documentaries and the discussions that followed, the attendees heard testimonies from refugees-victims of torture, underscored by the insights from experts on the medical and psychosocial impacts of these experiences later in life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The event also highlighted the significance of identifying and certifying torture victims, a programme which METAdrasi developed for over a decade, facilitating the process of providing international protection to asylum seekers in Greece.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The event was co-organized by the MSc programme &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/crisis.med.uoa.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Global Health &#8211; Disaster Medicine<\/a>&#8221; of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens, the<a href=\"https:\/\/babeldc.gr\/en\/homepage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> Babel Day Centre &#8220;Syn-eirmos&#8221;<\/a>, METAdrasi, <a href=\"https:\/\/msf.gr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/gcr.gr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Greek Council for Refugees<\/a>, with the participation from Hidden Goddess.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the Refugee Week Greece Festival and the International Day&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":25989082,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","iawp_total_views":1,"footnotes":""},"categories":[124],"tags":[],"dipi_cpt_category":[],"class_list":["post-26099267","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-announcements"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26099267","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/12"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=26099267"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26099267\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":26112468,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26099267\/revisions\/26112468"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/25989082"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26099267"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=26099267"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=26099267"},{"taxonomy":"dipi_cpt_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/dipi_cpt_category?post=26099267"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
