{"id":26099279,"date":"2024-07-02T10:54:30","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T07:54:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/drawings-of-unaccompanied-syrian-children-in-cyprus-tell-their-stories\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T14:28:59","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T11:28:59","slug":"drawings-of-unaccompanied-syrian-children-in-cyprus-tell-their-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metadrasi.org\/en\/drawings-of-unaccompanied-syrian-children-in-cyprus-tell-their-stories\/","title":{"rendered":"Drawings of unaccompanied Syrian children in Cyprus tell their stories"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29640\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/METAdrasi_CY_Exhibition_June24_9-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" title=\"Metadrasi -\"><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The children living at a temporary shelter in Pafos provided us with the opportunity to take a glimpse into the lives, through their creations for the exhibition \u201cOur imprints: Drawings by unaccompanied Syrian children in Cyprus\u201d.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/cy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">UNHCR Cyprus<\/a> in collaboration with METAdrasi, the exhibition ran until the end of the month and stemmed from the artistic workshops that were implemented by our educator at the shelter for unaccompanied and separated children in Pafos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"29646\" class=\"wp-image-29646\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/METAdrasi_CY_Exhibition_June24_8.jpg\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" title=\"Metadrasi -\"><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"29645\" class=\"wp-image-29645\" src=\"http:\/\/metadrasi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/METAdrasi_CY_Exhibition_June24_7-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Metadrasi -\" title=\"Metadrasi -\"><\/figure>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The exhibition&#8217;s opening took place on June 20 on the occasion of the World Refugee Day, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/cvar.severis.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CVAR &#8211; Severis Museum<\/a>. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evangelou, UNHCR Representative in Cyprus, Katja Saha, and, of course, the young artists themselves.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cWe are here today to congratulate the children who created this project and through it expressed their dreams, their memories and their concerns. [\u2026] I want to thank these children who grew up suddenly but dream of a better future.
