Call for Finance Manager in Athens

Job Title: Finance Manager
Place of employment: Athens

METAdrasi is an award-winning Humanitarian Organization that aims to fill critical gaps in the reception and integration of refugees and migrants in Greece. Since its establishment in 2010, METAdrasi has developed pioneering activities, which focus on the following areas: interpretation, protection of unaccompanied minors, support of vulnerable groups, legal representation, education and integration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation, monitoring and revision of programmes’ budgets
  • Checking to ensure that financial practices comply with the contracts of the programmes
  • Checking and sending financial reports and related documents
  • Providing and analysing financial data for the programmes implemented
  • Communicating with donors on all financial aspects of the programmes
  • Approval of payments and purchases of supplies
  • Submitting proposals for the use and/or revision of the budget in line with the progress of the implementation of the programmes
  • Monitoring the absorption of the budgets of the programmes
  • Checking the eligibility of expenditure; monitoring and implementing the applicable legal framework and the terms of the grant agreements
  • Collection and processing of data for the preparation and accurate submission of quarterly and annual financial reports to the funding bodies
  • Providing advice to the project teams


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting or related field
  • Three years’ experience in a Finance Department
  • Excellent knowledge of Greek and English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft excel, accounting software)
  • Ability to organize and plan; flexibility
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, impartiality, objective judgment
  • Confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to solve problems and perform under strict deadlines


Additional Assets:

  • Postgraduate degree in Finance
  • Previous experience in financial management of projects funded by European funds and International organisations (UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF etc.)
  • Immediate availability
