The children and the staff at METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility for Unaccompanied Minors in Samos are looking for ways to contribute to the protection of the environment. As part of this effort, they constructed a recycling bin and installed it in the shelter. The children were informed by the facility’s staff, by audiovisual means, about recycling. They had the opportunity to put their knowledge into action through an activity in the area of the port of Samos: all together, they picked up the garbage, separated it into recyclable and non-recyclable and placed it in the respective bins. By the end of the day, they had collected recyclable material that adds up to more than 60 recycling bags, filling a whole bin!

“Sensitization and mobilization regarding the environment are not limited in keeping clean and recycling, but concern every aspect of our everyday life”, says Konstantinos, METAdrasi’s facility manager in Samos.

Many thanks to the Municipality of Samos for providing recycling bags!
