The little “cultivators” of the Samos accommodation facility

20.04.2021

The unaccompanied children of the Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos decided to cover the supply of the house in vegetables. Initially, they took old containers and after using all their artistic mastery, they turned them into beautiful pots for their production. Then they carefully placed soil in the pots, drilled holes and planted their future crop.

Tomatoes, eggplants, carrots and peppers were the children’s choices that filled the accommodation facility’s balcony. In order to be able to distinguish them, but also to give the appropriate care required for each plant, they made labels and placed them in the pots so that they know when to water the plants.

Every day the children visit their crop early in the morning to supervise the growth of the vegetables and to do the necessary work. Now, our little “cultivators” are looking forward to the time when they will be able to taste the results of their efforts.

METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos is funded since June 2020 by EEA Grants in the framework of the Asylum and Migration programme.
