“I saw with my own eyes METAdrasi’s interpreter saving a man’s life”

Metadrasi -

Yesterday, METAdrasi’s team visited a high school in Piraeus to conduct a training for the teachers on the inclusion of refugees in the public school, following the invitation of the principal.

At the beginning of the training, the headmistress spoke with very warm words about METAdrasi and the importance of the work it has done by providing interpretation in education, but also to health institutions.

And she continued by describing an incident that she had witnessed a few years ago. She was at a hospital, when an adult refugee climbed outside a window and threatened to fall. The fire brigade tried to distract him so they could pull him in, but to no avail. The situation seemed to have no happy ending until one of METAdrasi’s interpreters (wearing the characteristic vest and badge) who was there to provide interpretation to a patient of Arabic origin, interfered and managed to reassure him by speaking in his language. The man slowly calmed down until he was finally removed from the window. “I saw with my own eyes METAdrasi’s interpreter saving a man’s life” the director said, filling our entire team with strength!
