A beautiful celebration at the Educational Center in Thessaloniki

20.12.2024

Fun, gifts, treats and many smiles “flooded” our educational center in Thessaloniki yesterday, in a beautiful celebration that took place on the initiative and with the support of UNHCR Greece and in collaboration with Chefs for Zero Hunger.

Our young students, refugees and migrants some with their parents, but also unaccompanied children from the Guardianship programme and children in foster care, experienced moments full of joy that they so much need.

The celebration was such a great success thanks to everyone’s cooperation: UNHCR offered gifts and chocolates to all our students. Chefs for Zero Hunger prepared plenty of treats, so many that some of them were sent to the Polykastro camp, and specifically to METAdrasi’s Community Centre where they were already distributed to the children.

Apart from the treats, the Chefs for Zero Hunger team had made a call for the collection of toys to be donated to the refugee and asylum-seeking children of METAdrasi’s educational centre, as well as of the camps of Northern Greece. The toys collected are so many and have already brought joy to all our students and are expected to bring even more joy to the children of the camps.

The celebration was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Social Policy, Solidarity and Welfare, Mr. Efthimios Hadjitheoklitos, who chatted with the children and distributed gifts.

Of course, our amazing volunteers once again took care of the children’s creative activities during the celebration, giving their best as always.

We thank them all very much!
