At the end of the school year, the students of the 6th grade of Georgiou-Zoi Elementary School expressed the desire to share their feelings of solidarity and make an offer to other children who live completely different childhoods, having arrived from distant countries in Greece without any family or relatives.
Knowing how important online education is in the outbreak of this pandemic, they decided to use the money they had raised from their Christmas bazaar to buy two computers and offer them to the unaccompanied children that live in METAdrasi’s Accommodation Facility in Athens. With special care and love, they placed the computers in boxes and wrote on them encouraging messages addressed to all the children, showing them just how much they really care.
When the boxes arrived at METAdrasi’s Accommodation Facility they were not opened immediately, as usual. All the children were impressed by the messages on the boxes and read them one by one with great curiosity. They were moved by the interest of these children, who even though they do not know them, they still care about them, and they expressed the desire to meet them. The very next day they talked for a long time with their new friends on the phone!
We send our deepest gratitude to the students of Georgiou-Zoi Elementary School for this beautiful initiative and their moving messages!
Since 1/1/2018 METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Athens is funded in the framework of the implementation of the programme “Operation of Accommodation Structures for Unaccompanied Minors” by the National Program of Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
