The unaccompanied children of our Facility in Chios had a unique experience, with their participation in the island’s Christmas Village. During these days spent away from their families, the carefree moments they enjoyed in the Village were particularly precious.
Being the protagonists in a magical setting, all the children who visited us decorated the Christmas tree with their wishes for the New Year and were “transformed” into fantasy heroes with the help of the Facility’s teacher, who painted their faces. Afterwards, young and old alike tasted the sweets prepared with love by our Facility’s team, while handmade charms, calendars and ornaments were offered to every visitor.
The Christmas Village was organized by the Municipality of Chios, in cooperation with the Refugee Education Coordinators, the Directors and the teachers of the schools that hold reception classes.
METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Chios is funded since June 2020 by EEA Grants in the framework of the Asylum and Migration programme.
