“A World Not Ours”

Angelina, Psychologist in METAdrasi’s Accommodation Facility for unaccompanied children in Samos, recounts a special experience she shared with the children:

“Several days ago, we visited the Art Space Pythagorion’s exhibition “A World Not Ours“, which had an in-depth approach to the refugee crisis. All os us, the children, the facility’s staff and the interpreters were guided through the artworks by the Education Program Director.

The children observed the exhibits with impressive dedication (it was the first time we saw them concentrated on something for so long!) and were stunned by the photos of Izmir, the lifejackets and the boat that crossed the Turkey-Greece borders. In the exhibition room, most of them shared their personal stories about their own journey.

Although it has been a while since our visit at the gallery, we can hardly forget this experience we shared. ”

We thank Swartz Foundation and Art Space Pythagorion for the warm hospitality and the shaping of the exhibition for the children, as well as Ms. Katerina Zacharopoulou for the interactive walkthrough of the artworks.
