A few days ago, the children hosted in our shelter in Chios paid a visit to the retirement home “Zorzis Michalinos”.

Matina, the facility’s Manager, recounts: “We proposed to the children to visit another shelter hosting elder people who are also in need of care and company. The children agreed and prepared themselves with great enthusiasm: With our help they created cards in Greek, French, Farsi and Arabic and under the guidance of the shelter’s cook they prepared rice puddings for the 90 guests of the retirement home. Their welcome was just as warm! They offered us juice and chocolate and guided us around. They gave us their blessing and talked about their lives. We were all moved by Ms Kaiti, a 100-year-old lady, speaking 7 languages, who welcomed us by saying “I love you”. Our visit was concluded with the promise to help them plant colorful flowers in their garden in May!”

Warm thanks to our new friends, as well as to the retirement home’s Manager Vagelis Stamoulis and to the President of the BoD Dimitrios Sarris.
