Metadrasi - AKELIUS

Η METAdrasi has been implementing the Akelius project since June 2021.

Akelius is a digital language learning platform specifically designed to meet the needs of children with a refugee or migrant background. The platform features a variety of interactive activities, enhanced with rich audiovisual resources to complement the teaching process.

It is a valuable tool for learning the Greek language and serves as an important resource for teachers to improve their students’ understanding of both written and spoken Greek.

The platform is available in English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish, and has been used in both formal and non-formal education settings.

Since the launch of the project, 60 schools across mainland Greece and the islands have benefited from this digital tool. Additionally, many teachers in public schools and non-formal education centers have been trained in its use, and over 15,000 students have been supported.

The results from using the platform have been very encouraging, and student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Teachers have highlighted that the platform makes a significant contribution to effective lesson delivery, boosts students’ confidence, and supports their integration into the new environment.

The Akelius project is implemented in collaboration with and funded by UNICEF.
