Celebrating Halloween in the Samos shelter

23.11.2021

Preparations for the celebration of Halloween in METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility for Unaccompanied Minors in Samos, were hectic. The children drew, cut and painted ghosts, monsters, mummies and bats which they used to decorate the whole house.

Our little creators, with the careful movements of a make-up artist, painted scary shapes on their faces. Then, like heroes from horror stories, they began to pop up from all parts of the house trying to scare us, but ending up making us laugh out loud!

Holding a carved pumpkin, they started knocking on the doors of the house asking staff and children “Trick or treat?”. The lucky ones who replied “Treat!” tasted the wonderful chocolates that the pumpkin contained, while the rest were satisfied laughing with the small pranks that the children scammed.

The decision of the members of the household to establish the celebration of Halloween was unanimous, as both the preparation and the celebration were a source of happiness and laughter that will be remembered for a long time.

METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos is funded since June 2020 by EEA Grants in the framework of the Asylum and Migration programme.
