Hip-hop classes for the unaccompanied girls styaing at METAdrasi’s Semi-Autonomous Living Apartments

Metadrasi - METAdrasi SIL hip hop

Unaccompanied girls living in METAdrasi’s Semi-Autonomous Living Apartments in Athens were introduced to the world and the rhythms of hip-hop, through the lessons held in the framework of “Together in Sport – Phase II”.

One of the young refugees has been singled out for her enthusiasm and love for this kind of dance. She has already learnt all her basic moves and steps, but most importantly, she has made friends and is socialising more and more with each lesson.

The semi-independent living programme for unaccompanied minors aged 16 to 18, in addition to safe housing and a range of services that meet all of the children’s basic needs, also provides targeted activities such as dance and music that aim to support them on their way to integration.

METAdrasi launched in 2018 the pilot activity of semi-autonomous living for unaccompanied minors aged 16 to 18, aiming at their smooth transition to adulthood and their integration into the Greek society. From June 2024 the activity “Supervised Semi-Autonomous Living Apartments” is funded by the “Programme Greece – Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027”, co-funded by the European Union.

“Together in Sport-Phase II” promotes social cohesion and peaceful coexistence through sport and cultural activties and is implemented by METAdrasi (project coordinator), the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) supports with coordination and co-funding. The project is also co-funded by the AMIF (2021-2027). With the support of the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons & Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
