“I want to become a doctor when I grow up”

At METAdrasi’s educational center this summer, a beautiful coincidence reminded us of the power of education and human connection.

In his English class, little M., one of our students, shared his dream: “I want to become a doctor when I grow up.” At that very moment, the young man leading the class, Basem, smiled — because he was a medical student himself, doing an internship with us.

The two became the perfect match. Inspired by M.’s dream, Basem began sketching drawings of the human body, pointing to each part and teaching him the English words. In those moments, learning went far beyond the classroom — it became a bridge between dreams and knowledge, between hope and possibility.

M. now carries not only new English words, but also the encouragement of someone walking the very path he aspires to follow. And Basem discovered, too, the joy of inspiring the next generation.

Stories like these remind us why we do what we do: because every child deserves the chance to dream — and the support to reach those dreams.
