On February 12, 1952, students in East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh) revolted to prevent the abolition of their language “Bengali”. Their protest was drowned in blood, and on the occasion of this sacrifice, UNESCO established February 21st as the International Mother Language Day.

METAdrasi, recognizing and effectively supporting the right of every person to communicate in their mother tongue, has created a team of 350 trained and certified interpreters in 46 languages and dialects.
