Metadrasi - METAdrasi Womens Day

March 8: Visit to the Archaeological Museum of Samos

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8th and in conjunction with the Day in Memory of Melina Mercouri two days earlier, 16 women living in the Samos camp and supported by METAdrasi’s Greek language courses and the “Stepping Stone” integration programme, visited the Archaeological Museum in the island’s town. This activity was organized with the excellent cooperation of UNHCR GREECE and gave the participants the opportunity to create beautiful memories, but also to learn about ancient Greek culture and history.

Showing great interest, they were guided through the collections and admired the most famous exhibit of the museum, the 5-meter high Kouros of Samos, which is the largest surviving Kouros in Greece.

“The students’ enthusiasm for this visit, filled us all with joy!”, said a member of our team who accompanied the women in this special activity.
