Our unaccompanied children in Samos learn about the Greek Independence Day

28.03.2023

On the occasion of the 25th of March, our unaccompanied children at the Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos had the opportunity to learn about the history of modern Greece.

After watching a video about the Greek struggle for liberation and the formation of an independent state, the children listened to stories about the actions of Theodoros Kolokotronis, Manto Mavrogenous, Laskarina Bouboulina and other known or unsung heroes of the Revolution.

The children were touched by the strength and the courage of the Greek revolutionaries, who claimed their freedom with the few means they had. The activity was followed by many questions about the way Greeks lived during this tough era, but also about how they experienced slavery.
