The special presentation of the children’s book “Your Rights, are always with you” which took place in the welcoming space of the 63rd Elementary School of Thessaloniki, was the inspiration for the children to create their own heroes-rights!
Through interactive reading of the book, the students and teachers of the 63rd Elementary School and the Experimental Intercultural School of Thessaloniki learned in a simple and creative way about the basic rights of children, such as the right to friendship, to safety, to health, to expression, and to the acceptance of diversity.
Two of the book’s creators, author Stavroula Pagona and designer of the three-dimensional paper toys, Konstantinos Kesidis, were also present. We warmly thank them for their participation in this unique workshop organized by METAdrasi through “Together in Sport-Phase II”.
The publication “Your Rights, are always with you” is the result of an effort that began some time ago by the METAdrasi team – supported by Family for Every Child – to create a “tool” that helps children learn about and understand their basic rights. Authors Stavroula Pagona and Antonis Papatheodoulou responded immediately to our call and created a group of heroes who never leave any child alone… a group of heroes made of paper: the paper of the Convention on the Rights of the Child! The publication was completed with the creations of Myrto Delivoria, who did the illustrations, and Konstantinos Kesidis, who designed the three-dimensional paper toys.
“Together in Sport-Phase II” promotes social cohesion and peaceful coexistence through sport and cultural activties and is implemented by METAdrasi (project coordinator), the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) supports with coordination and co-funding. The project is also co-funded by the AMIF (2021-2027). With the support of the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons & Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
