Provision of interpretation in refugee camps:
Termination of the contract and months of delay in payment of the amounts due

On July 11, 2025, with the expiration of the relevant contract and METAdrasi being called upon to manage the delays in the payment of more than 2.5 million euros owed by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, the 33 refugee camps of the country are once again without quality interpretation, a service of crucial importance.

The above debts concern a period of eight months, from December 2024 until today, while indicative of the bureaucracy and the public sector’s inertia, is that there are still financial arrears to METAdrasi dating back to March 2024!

Despite the temporary normalization of the situation at the end of last year, the continuous leadership changes in the relevant ministry have again worsened the conditions. It is certainly not possible to blame the new Minister who, upon taking office, responded positively to our request for a meeting last week, during which he assured us that he would address the situation in order to resolve the impasse.

We thank our 193 interpreters and coordinators for the dedication and professionalism they have shown all these months under adverse conditions. We hope to soon return on the front line again to provide quality interpretation services, supporting communication between the residents, the staff and the professionals operating in the refugee camps.
