Reflecting on war and peace

Metadrasi - METAdrasi Peace 1

Freedom, equality, dignity and education are just some of the advantages of peace, as the unaccompanied children of our Facility in Chios noted during a meeting we organized on the topic “War & Peace”.

The children discussed and wrote on creative collages that in war we lose our homes and families, while the security of peacetime gives way to hatred and animosity. They also recalled their own experiences, stressing that no one leaves their homeland, unless their life is in danger.

We could not help but comment on the images of devastation from the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which reminded the children of the difficult times they experienced in their homeland, but also of their hope for a better future.

METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facilities in Chios and in Samos are funded since June 2020 by EEA Grants in the framework of the Asylum and Migration programme.
