Remedial classes inspire our students

Dozens of children, aged between 6-18 years old, attend daily the remedial classes that take place at METAdrasi’s Educational Centers.

The difficulties they face due to their limited knowledge of the Greek language may be great, but their determination and thirst for learning is even greater.

In fact, when they come in contact with great literary works or other texts, they find the opportunity to express themselves freely and give their own interpretation on timeless issues. A poem that recently stood out for the students of our Center in Thessaloniki was “We are some…”, by Kostas Karyotakis, about which they noted that: “We can always find solace in poetry”.

Despite the challenges of remedial teaching, the classes seem to inspire and encourage the students significantly, who see that their persistent effort is paying off. Meanwhile, they get to cultivate a variety of skills, making crucial steps towards their integration both in school and in local communities.

Τhe program “All Children in Education” is implemented by METAdrasi with support from UNICEF Greece and co-funding from the European Union.
