From 2021, METAdrasi, with the support of UNICEF, assist schools all over Greece in using Akelius. This is a modern Digital Language Learning Course, designed for students with refugee or migrant background. In Greece, it was initially used in non-formal education structures and reception classes, supporting teachers and students in 61 public schools from 2021 to 2025.

In this context, schools received the necessary equipment, while teachers participated in seminars and trainings. From January 2025, METAdrasi is expanding the use of the Digital Language Learning Course, offering the possibility of trainings to all formal education teachers without exception. With its ability to be used on tablets, android devices and computers, Akelius can enhance the learning of not only the Greek language, but also other subjects such as English, French, German, mathematics and history.

Since the beginning of 2025 to date, more than 820 students from migrant and refugee backgrounds have been supported through Akelius, thus boosting their confidence and smooth adaptation to a new environment.

The Akelius Digital Language Learning Course was developed in 2017 by the Akelius Foundation in collaboration with UNICEF to support language acquisition and social integration for refugee and migrant children.
