Visit to the Goulandris Natural History Museum
12 children from METAdrasi’s Educational Centre and from Synyparxis’ Accommodation Facility visited the permanent exhibitions at the Goulandris Natural History Museum. The children toured through the natural history exhibition and afterwards, with the help of the Museum’s guides, they visited the interactive exhibition on climate change that opened this year, discovering the importance of environmental protection.

Dome show at the Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation
The digital dome show “The History of the Earth” by the Eugenides Foundation was attended by 64 children from METAdrasi’s Educational Centre and from the Accommodation Facilities of Elefsina and Synyparsis. Watching the film, the children joined an exciting journey through time, expanding their knowledge about the Earth’s birth and evolution. The children came out of the room in excitement, discussing what they had seen and taking souvenir photos.


Trip to the Adventure Park
30 young teens from the Malakasa Accommodation Facility participated in an exciting trip to the Adventure Park. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, who gave a short training on the use of the special equipment, the children managed to “fly” safely from tree to tree. This activity was implemented in collaboration with the IOM and SolidarityNow.


Sports event at OAKA
Representatives of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) of Germany and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) attended a sports event at OAKA, which was joined by 130 children of refugee and Greek origin. We were honoured with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Sofia Voultepsi, who awarded the children with commemorative medals at the end of the event.
IOANNINA


Excursion to Perama Cave
A visit to the Perama Cave with the participation of children aged 15-17 years old was organized by Together in Sport, in cooperation with the Accommodation Facility for Unaccompanied Minors managed by the International Centre for Sustainable Development (ICSD) in Ioannina. While hiking, the children were informed by the guides about the cave’s ecosystem, its creation and change through time. Many children recalled past visits to caves in their home countries, which they described to the rest of the group.

Visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art “Theodoros Papagiannis“
25 children visited the Museum of Contemporary Art “Theodoros Papagiannis” in Elliniko. The visit started in the Museum’s courtyard, where Mr. Papagiannis presented to the children all the art works that were there, many of which were made out of recyclable materials or garbage. The children then watched sculptors at work who were participating in the 12th Sculpture Symposium, held in the same venue, and toured the indoor exhibitions. The excursion was organized in collaboration with the Facilities of “St. Athanasios” and the ICSD.

Wrap-up of wrestling trainings
The last wrestling trainings were completed in a joyful atmosphere, with the participation of all the children. Our young athletes said goodbye to their friends and their trainers, hoping that they would see each other again soon. The training sessions were milder than usual and followed by a dance party with lots of fun and laughter.

Environmental education in nature with the “EcoDespina” programme
The children participated in an environmental education in nature, which was organized in collaboration with the “EcoDespina” project. Through an exciting trek in the forest, next to the Kalamas river, the children got to know the forest ecosystem and realized its value for the quality of human and animal life.


Tour of the Silversmithing Museum in Ioannina
40 children from the Centres for Creative Activities of Anatoli and Pamvotida, as well as from the Accommodation Facility of Agia Eleni, visited the Silversmithing Museum in Ioannina. After a short walk around the castle of Ioannina, the children headed to the Museum, where guides stressed its significant contribution to the preservation of knowledge about silversmithing in Epirus.
KAVALA

Training with the children of the Nea Peramos Camp
The trainers of the Hellenic Olympic Committee organized a circular training of five stations, alongside 216 girls from the Nea Peramos Camp. The young campers were divided into two groups and were taught track and field, volleyball, basketball and football by experienced instructors. At the end, our children asked if they could do it again soon, while the camp girls did not want to part with their new friends.

Sports activity with the Kalamitsa Summer School
24 children of the Kalamitsa Summer School participated in a sports activity held at the outdoor fields in the region. The trainers of the Hellenic Olympic Committee divided the children into three groups and taught them athletics and basketball. The Summer School students immediately embraced the children from the camp, making many new friends whom they did not want to part with.





Sports activities on the Nestos river
41 children had the opportunity to take part in a series of sports activities on the Nestos river, organized in cooperation with the Centre for Creative Activities “To Dentro”. The children tested their skills in rafting, archery, zip line and climbing. The activity was well received by the local community, as the participants’ parents and other residents repeatedly thanked us for the unique experience we offered the children.

Tour of the Wax Museum of Theodoros Kokkinidis
The children from Kavala’s Accommodation Facility and the regional Summer School joined a visit to the Wax Museum, where they came face to face with some of the greatest personalities in Greece and abroad. The children were shown around the Museum by its creator, Theodoros Kokkinidis, who explained to them how the wax figures are made.


Trip to the Ancient Theatre of Philippi
30 children from Kavala’s Accommodation Facility and from the regional Summer School had the chance to visit the Ancient Theatre of Philippi. The young excursionists toured the archaeological site of Philippi, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Their tour continued at the Archaeological Museum, where they were informed about the discoveries in the ancient city, as well as about the prison of Paul the Apostle.




Sports event at the Mytilene Municipal Stadium
More than 200 children from Migrant Reception Centre in Mytilene attended a sports event at the Mytilene Municipal Stadium, which was organized in cooperation with “Sappho” Women’s Football Club. The children played football matches and other games, together with the coaches of “Sappho”. Akis Zikos, veteran football player, and Michalis Pavlis, Assistant Coach at AEK B’, honored our event with their presence.
