This year, we welcome CAMFED into the Hilton Prize Laureate community.
CAMFED, the Campaign for Female Education, is a pan-African movement addressing poverty, inequality and injustice by supporting girls and young women often excluded from the opportunity to go to school, to learn, thrive, and become leaders and changemakers in their communities.
For nearly three decades, CAMFED has focused on making sure girls are seen, heard and supported to achieve their full potential. By developing young women’s confidence, agency and leadership, CAMFED is delivering systemic change built on social justice, equity and inclusion. This is the CAMFED Multiplier Effect: A model of education and empowerment benefiting communities, nations and the world’s future, now carried out at significant scale thanks to its powerful leadership network.
CAMFED’s collective efforts have supported more than 4.8 million children to go to school across Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. As CAMFED says, “When you educate a girl, everything changes!”
Congratulations!
