Coastline cleaning by the children of our Accommodation Facility in Chios

18.10.2022

The unaccompanied children of our accommodation facility in Chios and the 1st Scout Group of Chios, following an invitation from our children, joined forces to clean the coastline of the Chios Nautical Club!

Last Sunday, in the framework of the activities organized by HELMEPA – Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association on the occasion of the International Coastal Cleanup Day, the children of the accommodation facility and the scouts met, got to know each other through play, divided into groups and took action. With the necessary equipment and log sheets in hand, the children began, with great care, to collect, record and separate the litter they collected from the beach.

Plastic, glass, cigarette butts, metal objects and wood were the “treasures” they discovered. Upon completion of the cleanup, they disposed of the litter in the respective bins.

We are very proud that, once again, the children proved to the local community and beyond that the colour of your skin, your religion or your country of origin do not matter when you want to take care of the environment and especially the place that hosts you either temporarily or forever.
