A school in Petralona hosted METAdrasi’s educational activities “Step2School”, which started in June 2017, under the Open Schools program of the municipality of Athens and are carried on, focusing always on the refugee and migrant children, but also having a steady open invitation towards the neighbourhood’s children.

Through METAdrasi’s activity, this school became a place for education, knowledge & skills development and socialization for more than 350 children from 15 countries.

Wishing to express our thanks for the warm hospitality, we prepared a pleasant surprise for the pupils and the school teachers: during two weekends, the school was refreshed, renewed and animated in joyful colors!

Volunteers and members of METAdrasi’s team painted classrooms and a corridor in the school with eagerness and care! Warm thanks to all of them!

“You gain great pleasure when you are given the opportunity to contribute to such an important task: to improve the environment in which dozens of children live every day. It gets even more important when you share the experience within a collective effort,” says Heleni, a member of METAdrasi’s team.

“Step2School” began in June 2017 under the “Open Schools” programme of the Municipality of Athens, which is carried out with Stavros Niarchos Foundation as exclusive contributor. Since the end of July 2017, the activity continues with support from the Open Schools of the Municipality of Athens and UNICEF and funding by the European Union – Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid.
