An unaccompanied boy had the opportunity to take part in the 2026 National Muay Thai Championship, held at the Olympic facilities in the region of Attica.
The teenager has been training consistently for the past few years and had been looking forward to the moment he would step into the ring, alongside other athletes, doing what he loves.
With the steady support of his Guardian, who accompanied him throughout the journey, he travelled from Ioannina to Athens and participated in the championship with enthusiasm, responsibility and respect for the rules and his fellow athletes.
Moments like this remind us how important it is for every child to have the space to express themselves, test their strengths and enjoy what they love. Through sport, participation becomes an experience of strength, confidence and connection with others.
METAdrasi’s Guardians stand by unaccompanied children in their everyday lives, supporting them in the steps they need to take to move forward safely, nurture their talents and pursue their goals.
Since November 1, 2023, the activity of Guardianship for Unaccompanied Minors in Greece, is being implemented with METAdrasi as the coordinating partner and Praksis as a partner, within the framework of the “National Guardianship System” with funding from the “Programme Greece – Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027”, co-financed by the European Union.
