Every unaccompanied child arriving in a new country needs more than procedures: they need someone to stand by them, listen to them, protect them, and ensure that their rights become a reality.
In the first part of Family for Every Child’s “Seen, Counted and Protected” series, METAdrasi’s experience from the Guardianship Programme for Unaccompanied Minors is presented — a programme introduced by the Organization for the first time in Greece in 2014.
The blog highlights how crucial the presence of a Guardian is in the life of an unaccompanied child — especially when issues such as age, documentation, access to education, health care, and legal protection directly affect their future.
Because systems see data.
