5 days dedicated to foster care for unaccompanied children: “Train the Trainer” and “Expert Meeting”

From the 4th to the 6th of May, a training on foster care for unaccompanied minors was realized, within the framework of the European programme “PROFUCE(IDI) – Train the Trainer”. With the participation of experienced members of METAdrasi and Nidos – an organization specialized in foster care in the Netherlands – important issues were developed, related to the acquisition of know-how on ALFACA’s ΙΙ (Alternative Family Care) methodology.

The 2-day “Expert Meeting” conference that followed was realized within the ALFACA II framework, with the co-funding of European Commission and under Nidos coordination. During the sessions, the operation of the foster institution, both in Greece and in the Netherlands, was discussed and an opportunity to exchange concerns, experiences and know-how was given.

Τhe conference was attended by professionals from entities related with child protection in Greece, such as the National Center for Social Solidarity (EKKA), the Regional Units of Attica, the Direction of Child & Family’s Protection, SOS Children’s Villages, General Hospital “Elena Venizelou-Alexandra”, Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital, as well as by representatives from UNHCR, the Ministry of Labor, Social Security & Social Solidarity, “Mitera” Paidopoli “Agios Andreas” and the Minors’ Prosecutor.
