METAdrasi’s cooperation with the Halkidiki Hotel Association paves the way for finding workforce

The Career Day for refugees, organized by METAdrasi in cooperation and with the support of the Halkidiki Hotel Association, at the Velideion Conference Center of Thessaloniki, was successfully completed on Monday, March 17th.

With their CVs in hand, more than a hundred refugees from the city of Thessaloniki and from the nearby accommodation facilities, gave interviews to representatives of twenty-five (25) hotel groups and large hotels of Halkidiki that responded to the call of the Association. The results were particularly positive as the day ended with the offer of 70 jobs to the candidates.

“The success of the Career Day shows us how important and effective the cooperation between Civil Society Organisations and the private sector can be. METAdrasi’s pioneering cooperation with the Halkidiki Hotel Association is a very positive step both for the integration of refugees into the labour market and the local community, and for the coverage of vacancies in the hotels of Halkidiki”, notes Nikoleta Dimitrouka, METAdrasi’s head of education and integration departments.

The cooperation between METAdrasi and the Halkidiki Hotel Association started on a pilot basis from the 1st of March and will last for six (6) months. The main objective is to find and support one hundred refugees who will emerge after the evaluation of a double number of interested parties and their employment integration in the hotel sector of Halkidiki.

The successful Career Day with refugees proved that we can meet the needs of the labour market, while supporting their smooth integration into Greek society. We continue with actions that unite and give opportunities to all, for the benefit of businesses and the high level of service to our customers and visitors of our prefecture”, stresses Grigoris Tassios, president of the Halkidiki Hotel Association.

Many congratulations to the president of the Association, Mr. Tassios, who took the initiative for this cooperation which we believe will exceed the objectives. I hope that other associations will cooperate with METAdrasi in order to help their members to cope with the huge problem of finding workforce and at the same time help refugees to integrate smoothly into the Greek society”, adds METAdrasi’s president, Lora Pappa.
