Our unaccompanied children share tastes of their homeland in e-cookbook

Metadrasi - METAdrasi Cookbook 1

Tastes and smells of their homeland were brought by the unaccompanied children of our Shelters in Samos and Chios, taking us on an exciting culinary journey beyond borders.

Unique recipes from the depths of Syria, Palestine, Kuwait, Somalia and other countries will fill the pages of an e-cookbook prepared by our children. Combinations of turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, chilli, cardamom and many other aromatic spices were mixed in our pots and pans, bringing back fond memories of our children’s homeland. The children prepared the meal and then gathered around a table to enjoy it all together, recalling family gatherings, festive days, feasts and joyful moments.

Metadrasi - METAdrasi Cookbook 3

Sambusas, beef suqaar, chicken pilaf, biriyani, kaluun iyo bariis, uzi, shish parak and znoud el sit or “a lady’s arms” are just a few of the recipes that our children recorded, cooked and tasted, confirming that the love of delicious food brings us all together.

If you are also a foodie, you will have to be patient until you taste the recipes recorded by our young “chefs”.
