The unaccompanied children of METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos enjoy the shadow theater

28.09.2021

The unaccompanied children of METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos had the opportunity to see up close and have fun with the heroes of the Greek traditional shadow theater, Karaghiozis, Hadjiavatis, Veligekas and of course the amazing Kollitiri. Through the hilarious adventures of “Karaghiozis in the jungle” and “Karaghiozis and the wild bees” the children laughed, learned how to watch for the bees, but also how to survive in the wild jungle.

And even though they may not have understood the language very well, the children seemed to admire the art of shadow theater, as it was something totally new to them. Holding the figures of Karaghiozis in their hands and trying to imitate the voices of the heroes by calling each other “bambako (dadda)”, the children continued their own performance on the way home.

METAdrasi’s Transit Accommodation Facility in Samos is funded since June 2020 by EEA Grants in the framework of the Asylum and Migration programme.
