Visit to the Olympic Museum
Another visit to the Olympic Museum took place, this time with the participation of students of the 1st High School of Koropi. The children were fascinated by the exhibits of the Museum, took dozens of photos, asked to know details about the Olympic Games and sports.
Sports activities at OAKA
The Olympic Stadium (OAKA) was filled with the happy voices of children participating in various sports activities. Running, football, long jump, volleyball and cheerleading were some of the sports that the children participated in, gaining unique experiences!
To the Equestrian Club
Students of the 133rd Primary School of Athens had the opportunity to test their strengths in horse riding, archery and football at the event held at the Athens Equestrian Club in early June. The enthusiasm was more than evident!
Tae Kwon Do in Haidari
A special Tae Kwon Do lesson was held at the Tae Kwon Do Sports Club of Haidari by Alexandros Gotsis, who was national coach at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. The course was attended by children from the Refugee Accommodation Centre of Schisto, the Tae Kwon Do Academy Olympiacos SFP and the Tae Kwon Do Sports Club of Haidari. The joy and enthusiasm of the children was evident from the first moment on their faces and the lesson was unforgettable!
KAVALA
Sports activity basketball
150 children from sports clubs and schools of the city, together with children from the Refugee Camp of Kavala, aged 8-12 years old, participated in the activity held in cooperation with the Municipality of Kavala, on the weekend of June 4-5, at the Municipal Stadium “Alexandra Dimoglou”. At the end of the event, each child was awarded a commemorative medal and by the hands of the international veteran basketball player Sophoclis Schortsanitis!
“Together in Sport” in Drama!
Early on Sunday morning, May 15th, 44 children from the refugee camps of Kavala and Drama met to play handball with 45 Greek children of the “BIANCO MONTE DRAMA 1986” club at the municipal gymnasium “Dimitris Krachtidis”. The enthusiasm of the children was great: at the end of the training session, a spontaneous celebration was set up that nobody wanted to end!
On the occasion of World Refugee Day
In Drama, more than 200 children gathered in Eleftheria Square, where the event “We learn and play Handball” took place, in cooperation with the sports club BIANCO MONTE DRAMA 1986 and the Municipality of Drama. Our young friends, refugees and children of the local community, got to know the sport of Handball, while the event was honored with the presence of the international handball player and member of the Greek national team, Petros Boukovinas.
IOANNINA
Sports events of “Together in Sport” on the occasion of the World Refugee Day
A special event took place in the open space that was constructed and handed over to the Municipality of Ioannina by METAdrasi within the framework of the project. Experienced gymnasts, together with the Olympic medalist Irini Aindili (bronze medal in rhythmic gymnastics – Sydney 2000) showed a total of 116 children, Greek children and children from the refugee camps, how to exercise on the park’s equipment.
Let’s play football!
100 children took part in the football activity held in Ioannina, in cooperation with the Sports Club “PAS Thyella Katsikas”, on Saturday 21 May. The children of the local communities, coming from five sports clubs, but also from the accommodation facilities of Katsikas and Fillipia Preveza, were enthusiastic for the tournament: they played friendly games, hung out, laughed and had fun. At the end, they were awarded medals and a bag with souvenirs, so that they will remember this special day for a long time.
