Another important cooperation for “Together in Sport – Phase II” was sealed on Thursday, the 3rd of April, with the signing of the relevant memorandum among METAdrasi, the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Municipality of Tanagra.
In the meeting that took place at the town hall, METAdrasi’s President, Lora Pappa, the Representative of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Thomas Tokas, the General Secretary of the Municipality, Georgios Kampouris and the President of the Municipal Council, Evgenia Strati, underlined the importance of the integration of refugees and especially of children.
In an area with a significant refugee population of children from the neighbouring camps, already from this week, “Together in Sport – Phase II” will give them the opportunity to go out of the accommodation facilities to participate in weekly basketball and kick boxing trainings, as well as in theatre play sessions. Most importantly, it will be another step in reaching out and interacting with the children of the local community.
The Municipality of Tanagra for its part “embraces” and actively supports this effort that brings together all the children, who show us in their unique and spontaneous way, how sport and culture can unite without discrimination.
“Together in Sport-Phase II”, which is implemented with METAdrasi as coordinator and in cooperation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee and with the support of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, aims at the participation of more than 10,000 children and young people up to 21 years old, in sports and cultural activities for the period 2023-2026. The project is co-funded by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees and the AMIF. With the support of the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons and Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
