Circular Program at the Olympic complex
Students from the 21st Elementary School of Athens were hosted by METAdrasi and the Hellenic Olympic Committee as part of the “Together in Sport – Phase II” project at the Olympic complex, where they had the opportunity to learn about sports such as fencing, weightlifting, laser run, and kickboxing.
On the occasion of the Panhellenic Day Against School Violence and Bullying, before the start of the activities, the children attended a short briefing on violence, given by Mr. Thomas Dimitriou, representing the Greek Police’s Directorate for Combating Racist Violence.

At the cinema with “Together in Sport – Phase II”
On March 12, 2025, METAdrasi, as part of “Together in Sport – Phase II,” organized a screening of the film “Flow: The Cat Who Wasn’t Afraid of Water” at the Cinobo cinema. Children from the accommodation facilities for unaccompanied minors in Athens had the pleasure of watching the award-winning animated film. Everyone was very excited, and we made plans to meet again for the next activity!
Awareness-raising session on the issue of unaccompanied children
“Together in Sport – Phase II” visited the 8th Junior High School of Korydallos for an informative meeting with third-year students. METAdrasi trainers organized an awareness-raising session for the high school students on the issue of unaccompanied children in Greece, through open dialogue and experiential exercises. The students were informed about important issues, such as: What is a refugee, what is an unaccompanied child, and what issues do they face? The children participated actively, asking questions and expressing their concerns on the subject!
The 21st Junior High School of Athens learns about Olympic sports
On Thursday, April 10, 2025, as part of “Together in Sport – Phase II”, METAdrasi, in collaboration with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, welcomed the students of the 21st Junior High School of Athens to the Olympic Aquatics Centre in Athens. The children had the opportunity to try out sports such as acrobatics, laser run, jiu-jitsu, fencing, and weightlifting. Through these sports activities, the children were trained by distinguished coaches, socialized, and interacted with each other in an intercultural setting. At the end of the event, medals and souvenirs from the project were distributed.
“Together in Sport – Phase II” at the 53rd Primary School of Athens
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, as part of “Together in Sport – Phase II”, METAdrasi, in collaboration with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, visited the welcoming 53rd Primary School of Athens. In the school courtyard, the children had the opportunity to try Olympic sports such as handball, fencing, weightlifting, and taekwondo. At the same time, an interactive video presentation on the history of the Olympic Games was held indoors.

Capacity building session for educators at the 2nd Primary School of Nea Ionia
The capacity building session held on March 18, 2025, at the 2nd Primary School of Nea Ionia was attended by all the school’s teachers. Trainers from METAdrasi and the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Citizens and Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum presented important information on child protection to the participants, which will be useful both in their personal lives as well as in their professional activities.
Educational Trip to the Folklore Museum of Paleochori
In the beautiful and traditional village of Paleochori, the students of the 15th Primary School of Mytilene and the students of the Refugee Reception and Education classes had the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience as part of “Together in Sport – Phase II”. Walking through the picturesque, stone-built alleys of the village and the beautiful square with the large tree, the children traveled back in time at the Paleochori Folklore Museum, discovering the traditional life and values of Lesvos. Through this educational experience, the children came into contact with local traditions, discovering the common elements that unite locals and refugees, and strengthening coexistence and respect.
“Together in Sport”
The courtyard of the 15th Primary School of Mytilene was filled with color, energy, and smiles on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, as the “Together in Sport – Phase II” project turned it into a celebration through sports activities. Children from the Refugee Reception and Education classes, together with their classmates from the morning school, joined forces, formed teams, and dove into the magical world of sports. Guided by renowned coaches and great athletes, they learned the secrets of judo, kickboxing, fencing, basketball, sitting volleyball, and laser run. All this against the backdrop of the inspiration and values of sport, vividly captured in an inspiring video about the Olympic Spirit and the timeless values that accompany it.
Capacity building sessions in Mytilene
For the first time in Mytilene, two live sessions were held on April 7 and 8, 2025, for employees of the NGO Iliaktida. METAdrasi trainers presented important information about unaccompanied minors and child protection to the participants, which will be useful both in their personal lives and in their professional activities.

“Together in Sport – Phase II” in the Municipality of Tanagra
Another important collaboration for “Together in Sport – Phase II” was sealed on Thursday, April 3, with the signing of the relevant memorandum between METAdrasi, the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the Municipality of Tanagra.

The first one-off sporting event in Tanagra
On Friday, March 7, 2025, the activities of “Together in Sport – Phase II” began in the Municipality of Tanagra with a sporting event that took place at the Oinofyta camp. Children aged 7-17 and young adults aged 19-21 had the opportunity to try their skills in volleyball and kickboxing under the guidance of coaches certified by the Hellenic Olympic Committee. The enthusiastic and numerous participation laid the best possible foundations for the events to follow!
Sports and cultural activities in Attica
Football, volleyball and taekwondo training sessions, as well as hip-hop and percussion lessons, continue with undiminished interest!
Sports and cultural activities in Lesbos
Mytilene has been getting into the rhythm of volleyball and taekwondo through weekly training sessions for children. Beyond the progress they are making in sports, we are delighted to see beautiful friendships being formed through these training sessions, while young artists are finding opportunities to express themselves through art classes.
Sports and cultural activities in Tanagra
Weekly basketball and kickboxing training sessions have also begun in Tanagra, as well as theatrical play classes, giving children the opportunity to spend a few hours each week in a fun and creative way.
“Together in Sport – Phase II” is implemented by METAdrasi (project coordinator), the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) supports with coordination and co-funding. The project is also co-funded by the AMIF (2021-2027). With the support of the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons & Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum. The action is carried out in cooperation with municipalities across various regions of Greece.
