Today, September 5 2024, the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, the President of METAdrasi, Lora Pappa, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Spyros Capralos, and the President of the Culture, Sports and Youth Organization of the City of Athens, Eleni Zonderou, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the framework of the implementation of “Together in Sport – Phase II”.
The project gives access to children and young people (up to 21 years old) refugees and asylum seekers to sports and cultural activities, together with their peers from the local community. It aims to give participants the opportunity to learn about different sports and values such as respect, team spirit and intercultural sensitivity and acceptance, and, most importantly, to create a “bridge” to bring all children together.
At the same time, through “Together in Sport – Phase II”, employees of the Municipality will be trained in child protection issues, while workshops open to the public will be carried out on issues of concern to society such as safe surfing on the Internet, climate change, etc.

“Together in Sport – Phase II” is implemented by METAdrasi (project coordinator), the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) supports with coordination and co-funding. The project is also co-funded by the AMIF (2021-2027). With the support of the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons & Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
