Metadrasi -

Today, the contracts for the provision of interpretation were officially signed at the Ministry of Migration and Asylum. Already since Thursday, the 12th of December, METAdrasi started to provide interpretation in refugee camps all over the country.

In the last months, great efforts were made by the Ministry to pay off METAdrasi the outstanding amounts that were pending for a considerable period of time, so that the Organization, which is of non-profit character, could manage to restart providing interpretation. With consistency on both sides, the desired result for was reached, namely the facilitation of communication among asylum seekers and the staff of the services.

In addition to registering and providing asylum seekers with the necessary information in a language they understand, the provision of interpretation is also crucial for their communication with medical and nursing staff in the camps. Moreover, METAdrasi’s interpreters also assist in the communication of homeless unaccompanied children through the National Emergency Response Mechanism.

METAdrasi is always open to any constructive cooperation to improve the management of the migration issue, with respect to human rights.
