A day at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens for unaccompanied children living in METAdrasi’s Semi-Autonomous Living Apartments: six unaccompanied teenagers, aged 16 to 18, took a “journey” in space and time.
The young refugees were guided through the displays of the largest museum in Greece, following step by step the history of the ancient Greek civilization, from the beginning of prehistory to the late antiquity.
The young refugees’ questions and interest in ancient Greek civilization exceeded all expectations, and more similar educational activities are planned.
METAdrasi launched in 2018 the pilot activity of semi-autonomous living for unaccompanied minors aged 16 to 18, aiming at their smooth transition to adulthood and their integration into the Greek society. From June 2024 the activity “Supervised Semi-Autonomous Living Apartments” is funded by the “Programme Greece – Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027”, co-funded by the European Union.
