Sport as a Bridge to Inclusion: METAdrasi at the Panathenea Festival

05.06.2026

Metadrasi - METAdrasi PanatheneaThe side event of the Panathenea Festival, “Sports as a Tool for Inclusion,” in which METAdrasi participated, featured a particularly lively and meaningful discussion.

At the heart of the conversation was the power of sport as a tool for inclusion, connection, and psychosocial empowerment for children and young people.

Drawing on the experience of “Together in Sport – Phase II,” METAdrasi’s representative highlighted the importance of giving refugee children opportunities to go beyond camps and accommodation facilities, take part in sports activities, play, cooperate, and build relationships with children from the local community.

Through “Together in Sport – Phase II,” implemented by METAdrasi in cooperation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee, sport becomes a bridge for communication, trust, and inclusion.

Because when children play together, they get to know each other better. And when they get to know each other better, more open, stronger, and inclusive communities are built.
We warmly thank Investing For Purpose for the excellent organization and for the invitation.

“Together in Sport – Phase II” is implemented by METAdrasi (project coordinator), the Hellenic Olympic Committee, and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) supports with coordination and co-funding. The project is also co-funded by the AMIF (2021-2027).
